There are many books that I wanted to suggest to the Intellectual Day Readers, however, THE MOST important and transformation is going to be “Think & Grow Rich”, hands down. The initial part of the book gives you the directions that “if you are ready the main lesson of this book will appear”, which makes this book quite an intriguing read. This book will definitely change your life if you are ready to receive the information. I think it should be a mandatory read for all freshmen in high school.

The book basically reads like an instruction manual for achieving whatever you want to achieve in life.

The 13 “steps” listed in the book are:

1. Desire

If you want something in life the first thing you must do is develop a “burning desire” for that thing: think about it often, put pictures of it on your desk, and visually see yourself with it.

2. Faith

Faith is a funny thing that is developed over a period of intense focus. It’s not enough to simply want something for yourself, but you must also put the idea into your mind that you WILL get it.

3. Autosuggestion

Autosuggestion or “Self-talk” is even hard to control than your faith. It’s the things that you consciously (and sometimes unconsciously) tell yourself during your waking hours. Also a skill that needs to be honed: autosuggestion tells your mind, which can’t tell the difference between imagined and real successes, that you will have or already have all that you desire.

4. Specialized Knowledge

Once you know what you want, it’s then time to go out and learn about the things or activities that will get you to where you are going. As an example. if you want a successful law firm, it’s obvious that you need to have a specialized knowledge in law.

5. Imagination

Imagination is something that many adults forget how to do or neglect once they come of age, however, it is a crucial ingredient to gaining wealth. There are many people seeking the same things in life, and while there is plenty enough for everyone, imagination will help you get where you going much faster. As a supplement to this book, one of the best books on imagination is The Magic of Thinking Big by David Schwartz.

6. Organized Planning

Now that you have the desire, faith, and specialized knowledge and are positively confirming to yourself and the universe your ability to make things happened, it’s time then to streamline everything. The things in life that are most worth doing are usually hard and complicated and thus organization is an absolute must.

7. Decision

Decision is the opposite of procrastination. In order to be successful at any aims, once must avoid NOT making decisions.

8. Persistence

You could probably fill an entire library with books that sing the praises of persistence and theres a good reason for that. Any good endeavor will be meet with road blocks, pot holes, and various other transportation analogies. One must be able to continue to pick themselves up after failure in order to succeed.

9. Power of the Master Mind

This section discusses the necessity of a “master mind” group with which to align yourself. There are tons of reasons to have a master mind group: from brainstorming, to finding investors in your ideas, to simply being apart of a group. When you align yourself with like-minded people opportunities will usually be more bountiful.

10. The Mystery of Sex Transmutation

How do we explain this?…Take all the energy that we put towards our desire to consummate and try refocusing that energy towards the pursuit of your goals and you are going to have a lot more chances towards success.

11. The Subconscious Mind

Taming your subconscious mind comes from a mix of the first two steps towards riches: desire and faith. While you can’t really control your subconscious fully, you can offer it up plans that it will work to execute day and night, sleeping and awake.

12. The Brain

Picture your brain like an antennae that receives and gives off signals. Your purpose is then to constant pursue ways to increase the vibrations that you give off and to also focus those signals that you send out into the world based on what you want.

13. The Sixth Sense

Call it hunches, or instinct, or that “feeling in your gut”: these are all synonyms for your sixth sense. In pursuing riches, using the sixth sense is like tapping into a the universal intelligence in order to derive answers to your questions. It’s highly philosophical, but much better explained in the book.

The author basically spent 20 years of his life following the lives of the most famous and accomplished people of the times trying to “crack” the code that these men and women utilized to achieve great things in life. It is my belief that he hit the nail on the head. At 70 million copies sold it’s one of the top 15 bestselling books EVER. Since it’s an older book you can probably easily find this one at your local library, or you can pick up a cheap paperback version for about $7. After buying several copies and giving them away to friends and family I decided to buy a nicer leather bound version that looks quite nice on the bookshelf.
